I racially identify as … African-American.
When people ask me the question “what are you?” I usually say … I'm West African. Either Ivorian or Ghanaian.
My favorite thing about being mixed is … Being able to dip in and out of cultures. Also, I feel like we have a better understanding of the world and its complexities when it comes to race. We get the best of both worlds.
The most difficult thing about being mixed is … Having to explain to everybody what you are. It has been getting better, but, especially in black communities, having to explain your skin color /or having to prove your worth.
If I could visit anywhere in the world, it would be … Some island or the South Pacific. Maybe even India.
If I had one day left on Earth, I would eat … A meal cooked by my mother.
When I was a kid, I wish I would have known that …. Race is nothing more than a trick. A trick to keep you thinking in the past rather than moving towards the future. It is fabricated.
